Counsellor & PsychoTherapist (MBACP regd)
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. As an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, community and inter-generational mediator, mother of two and, for many years, a practising solicitor, I bring a broad range of skills and life experience to my counselling practice. I have gained extensive experience working for 6 years in a large sixth form college, counselling 16-18 year old students and members of staff and also teaching adult students counselling skills and theory.
Professional Practice – I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (No. 076599) and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice, this means that the service I provide is confidential and I engage in regular supervision.
My Approach – My view of therapy is that it is very much a collaborative process between counsellor and client. Research consistently demonstrates that it is the quality of this relationship (rather than the particular model used by the counsellor) which has the greatest influence on the outcome. I place great emphasis on building a trusting and supportive working relationship with each client, enabling them to talk openly about their issues in a safe environment, free from judgement or expectation.
You may have supportive family and friends, but it can be difficult to discuss personal or long term issues with those you are close to. Counselling offers a confidential, impartial and non-judgemental setting, independent of other influences in your life. It offers you the scope to explore your difficulties and feelings with professional support.
I am trained in an integrative model of therapy, drawing on psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive behavioural approaches as appropriate. My work with each client is tailored according to what they bring to the sessions and how they wish to approach matters – everyone is unique.
