Christel Martin

Christel was born in the south of France and moved to London in 1986 to study English.

Christel first got interested in the benefits of plants as a small child when her Grandmother would rub lavender oil made from plants gathered in the hills of Provence onto burns amongst many natural remedies still practised in day to day life in the region.

Christel had always been interested in the human body, and completing her English studies she moved to Guildford and decided to take a BTEC in Beauty Therapy, excelling at massage, nutrition, anatomy and physiology. On completion of the BTEC she took an ITEC in aromatherapy.

Christel was never interested in working in a salon and practised from home and at her clients homes until she started working at the Holistic Centre in Godalming in 2000, finding a huge affinity with the lovely old building and developing a strong client base by word of mouth.

Always interested in trying some thing new, Christel developed her skills base studying La Stone Therapy in 2005 under Jane Scrivner, bestselling author of Detox Yourself and Lastone Therapy, drawing on ancient Native American practices using hot and cold stones to deliver spiritual, physical, emotional and energetic benefits to the mind and body. Since 2005 Christel has attended different workshops in remedial massage.

More recently whilst staying in a country B&B Christel woke up with a thumping headache and nausea. Fortunately the weekend break was not spoiled as the owner of the B&B was a Bowen Practioner and was able to get rid of Christel’s symptoms with a couple of moves. Amazed by the effects of this relatively new therapy from Australia, Christel undertook a part time course over 2 years qualifying in late 2005. Since then she has continued her professional development taking an advanced Bowen course in 2006, studying under 2 of the founders, Ellen and Ossie Rentsch, at the time in their 70’s.

In 2007, Christel went to Bangkok to study Thai Traditional Massage at the Wat Po Temple, home of the reclining Buddha, gaining her Certificate of Achievement from The Wat Po Traditional Medical School.
