Yoga has occupied more and more of my life for about 12 years, in which time it has balanced the stress of running a business, eased the long slog of marathon training, helped me deal with depression, and kept me healthy, content, and in touch with who I am.
Together with patience learned with age it has also taught me to be more present in the moment.
I have not worked with Sting or Madonna or any Famous Yogi, though I have worked in India and elsewhere on my travels with yogis from whom I’ve learned a great deal.
The yoga I teach is a combination of breathing exercises, postures and sequences, and relaxation. Like most yoga taught in the West today, it is Hatha based, and although I’m formally qualified in the Sivananda tradition, I borrow from several styles, including Astanga (power yoga) and Vinyasa (flow yoga).
I do not subscribe to teaching by rote or manuals, but try to offer students something of what I have learned from experience. Both individual sessions and classes are tailored to take into account the student or group’s needs and abilities.
To my Teachers; Devaki (who gently prompted me to teach) and Swamis Anantananda and Kailasananda in particular, I owe much more than a simple thank you.
Also my students, who help me grow.
