Career and Personal Development Coaching

What is it?

Career coaching is designed to enable people to perform at their best and fulfil their potential in either their existing career or a new career. It enables you to progress from where you are currently to where ultimately you want to be.

Through confidential one to one sessions the coach guides and facilitates your progress towards your defined goals, helping you to overcome self limiting beliefs so you have the confidence and competence to achieve your goals through a series of manageable steps.

What are the benefits of coaching?

Finding and building a career that matches your values and plays to your strengths can be incredibly fulfilling. Coaching can help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

By building such awareness, confidence and self belief it is amazing what people can and do achieve.

What does a coaching session look like?

A coaching session generally lasts between 1 to 2 hours during which time the coach and client review specific actions, outcomes and any issues. Each session closes with agreement by both parties on actions to be taken before the next session. In order to make real progress we generally advise a minimum of 3 coaching sessions.

The topics covered in our career coaching can include: understanding yourself; your values, your strengths, and your ideal career, confirming career objectives, developing your CV, structuring your self-marketing campaign; your job search, routes into the jobs market and interviewing skills. As well as support to manage the emotional impact of career issues, such as concerns regarding redundancy, retraining, relocation, retirement, relationships at work, promotion, maternity leave and other career breaks, stress and work life balance issues.

Below are a few examples of the sorts of issues clients present with:

• I am stagnating in my current role, but there are limited opportunities in the current economic climate. Can you help me to think through what I really want and could do, so I will be better prepared?

• My job has been put on the redundancy ‘at risk’ list and I really don’t know what I would do if I lost my job. Can you help me prepare for this?

• I feel nervous about returning to work after maternity leave and I am not sure I can or want to do it. I’d really like to discuss my concerns with an impartial person, can you help?

• My work life balance is currently out of kilter. Can you help me to regain some perspective, and consequently a more satisfying balance?
