Tai Chi
Therapists: Jo Osborne
T’ai Chi or Taiji may include learning a ‘Form’ or ‘series of movements’ which are carried out mindfully, slowly and gracefully – a gentle and natural form of movement meditation. T’ai Chi may be interpreted as meaning ‘without limits’.
The T’ai Chi that is taught by Jo is from the ‘Taiji 37’ system. There is an emphasis on developing the internal movements or energy forces of the individual postures, which thereby unravels an understanding of the internal mechanics and allows the practitioner to explore their own body movements and awareness. It is possible to work through ‘The Taiji 37 Form’ or to work with the standing postures separately.
The study and practice of tai chi can promote great health benefits:
Encourage a positive attitude
Improve posture
Develop flexibility
Manage stress and cope with problems
Remove negative energy
People of all ages can learn the gentle movements of T’ai Chi and T’ai Chi can be adapted to match any level of ability.
